Helping Hands Ministry

Stony Hill Baptist Church

In the spirit of Christian compassion and love, Helping Hands is a ministry that serves the Lord and at the same time comforts those who are grieving. Helping Hands provides a meal and fellowship, exspressing sympathy and concern following the death of a member of the Church.

How it all began.

Stony Hill Church members Carolyn Bailey, Eva Keith, and JoAnn Rogers met at JoAnn’s house to consider ideas on founding an organization that would express sympathy and Christian compassion after the passing of a member of the church. The primary goal would be to provide a sit-down meal at the Stony Hill Community House or if preferred, deliver food to the home for the family and friends to be served following burial services. Once plans were in place, a second meeting was scheduled and an invitation given to all interested SHBC members. In April of 2000, the Helping Hands ministry of Stony Hill Baptist Church was formally organized. The 18 charter members were Carolyn Bailey, Cornell Chapell, Judy Dillard, Beatrice Harrison, Flossie Harrison, Jean Harrison, Virginia Jackson, Eva Keith, Lib Keith, Myra Martin, Blanch Morris, Gracie Perry, Nelva Perry, Lathie Ray,, JoAnn Rogers, Mamie Rogers, Gladys Woodlief, and Joyce Woodlief.

Since it’s founding, Helping Hands has been blessed with many new members as well as generous monetary donations intended to keep this ministry moving forward. If you are new to Stony Hill, joining in service with Helping Hands is a great way to get involved.
